Installation
In 2023 I was introduced to Lauren Zens of Callaterra Studios and was immeadiatly delighted! Given our shared obsession with reusing materials we hit off and quickly agreed to work together on an entry for the Milwaukee Riverkeeper® Annual Boat Parade. Up until this point I had not designed and constructed anything this large and ambitious. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to push all my skillsets, design, art and handiwork. It was a joy to work with Lauren and get a chance to participate in this great event in its last year!
We recruited our friends and family to help us with the installation of our work onto the pontoon and were able to enjoy the most perfect day on the river riding in the boat parade. I was hoping to add to the work we did and see how far we could’ve pushed our Transform Trash to the next level, but parts of the build have lived on in other community events, decorations in my studio and my Bike Tire piece can be currently found in the window of the Hooch MKE in Bayview.
I’m always interested in connecting with other artists leaning into creative reuse. Please contact me if you’re interested transforming trash with me!
