Posters

I have a BFA in Graphic Communications from UW Oshkosh. Upon graduating in 2006 I found employment working as in house graphic designer for a financial firm for about 13 years. After feeling a lack of creative control in a business setting and doing work that didn’t relate to my values or speak to my interests I took a break from full-time graphic design employment.  I limited my work to local projects that my friends were involved in.

As I moved away from freelance design my skills were primarily utilized for creating signage, posters and social media posts for rubbishREMADE. I’ve recently felt called back to my design practice via show posters. I started to incorporate fused plastic, my own photography and friends photography into posters. Many of the posters are layered collages utilizing photoshop to create background images and then bringing them into Illustrator to layout text with the show information. More recent posters have incorporated setting up images with found materials in my studio and finishing digitally in Illustrator.

These have become an opportunity to meld my art and design practices and create art physically and digitally. I love the sense of play I am able to achieve in these designs. A solid theme with show information gets ideas percolating and I’m able to play around with concepts without the burden of having to iterate or generate multiple solutions, as my friends trust me to come up with something eye catching and unique. I look forward to doing more!
